On the top of Amanda Baggs' blog is the quote, "I am one of the forgotten ones who refuses to be forgotten." Baggs is a 27-year-old blogger and videographer. One of her videos on YouTube has amassed over 650,000 hits. She lives in public housing for the elderly and handicapped, needs help with things like cooking or taking a shower, and doesn't like to look other people in the eye. Baggs isn't physically disabled in anyway; she's autistic. She's also a vocal leader in the emerging autistic self-advocacy movement.

In our podcast, we will be focusing on the ways that technology has created opportunities for people like Baggs to establish their own voice, create stronger ties within their community, and resist stereotypical and demeaning categorizations of their intelligence and personhood. But before you listen to the podcast, we would appreciate it if you would watch the following video, created by Baggs. The first few minutes are a demonstration, and they are followed by a "translation."
